Square Dancing

All the GAPPers have to do a project over something in American culture. My friend Shelbi and I are doing our project about American square dancing.

 Before we came to Germany, we presented once in our German class to see how the dancing part would go and it went pretty well.

June 14
8th grade

The first was in an 8th grade class. There were only 10 people so more of the Americans got to participate.

Thanks for the help! I mean.. danke!! (Haha. Logan, you look like you're Kaitlin's ear.) Jenna and Jessica were also there and helped with dancing and filming!

We gave a little bit of history in English.

Then, we started dancing. There are slides and videos to describe each move and we practiced those. After, they learned the moves we did the dance that Shelbi wrote without music, then with music. Shelbi was the caller.

This is allemande, the hardest to do/explain. It was very confusing when we did it in America and in this class, it took a while but we got it!

Because the rooms here are pretty small, we only had space to do one group at a time so we did two groups. I got to dance in the second group!!

Spaß, spaß! Und sehr lustig!

11th grade Party

We also did our presentation at Lisa's history party. That was also very fun and funny! We did three groups/ rounds so almost everyone go to dance.

We had to move the tables out to have enough room.

We were going to make Emily and Jens be partners because he's the tallest and she's the shortest but then we decided that was too mean. They ended up being corners though.

 I also made Lisa dance. I had to drag her in but I succeeded. Erfolg!

Madi had already danced two rounds earlier so she did the computer and music.

 Emily's partner was funny too. He was very formal. Someone in the class told him he was square dancing not doing the minuet. I thought it was funny.

 And the history teacher joined in too!

We made the Germans say YEEHAW! It was funny.

We also had two presentations on Friday. Maybe I'll put up more pictures. Maybe I won't. We'll see.
